Ah, the pond it is then. I approach the murky waters, my curiosity getting the better of me. The scum on the surface does little to entice me, but who am I to turn down a closer look? After all, one can never be too careful when exploring these forsaken ruins.

But just as I'm about to examine the pond edge, an enormous spider emerges from a nearby crevice! Its eight hairy legs scuttle towards me, and its fangs gleam ominously in the dim light. Oh, joy! A dance partner for my darkest hour.

Now, let's see. I'm wearing chain mail armor to protect this exquisite body of mine, and I have my trusty black axe at the ready. Unfortunately, my off-hand is empty, but who needs a shield when you can strike and block with your bare hand? After all, I am Galath Galahad, the legendary warrior with weak magical talents!

The spider lunges at me, its venomous bite missing me by a hair's breadth. Oh, how disappointing! I retaliate, striking it with my axe and dealing a solid 8 points of damage. This eight-legged fiend won't know what hit it!

But the spider doesn't back down. It attempts another venomous bite, missing me once again. Oh, such poor aim for an enormous creature! I suppose even beasts can have their off days.

Alas, my next attack misses its mark, leaving me vulnerable to the spider's deadly fangs. A sharp pain shoots through me as it lands a venomous bite, dealing 7 points of damage. But fear not, for I am not so easily defeated! I strike back with my axe, dealing another 5 points of damage to the spider.

Despite being injured, the spider continues its relentless assault, landing another venomous bite and causing me to suffer an additional 4 points of damage. Oh, how unsporting of it! But alas, my life force dwindles as my HP reaches zero, and I succumb to the venomous bite.

As I perish in combat against this giant spider, I am left with a single thought: "Is this a black tie dinner?"
